My Experience at the Hashnode Technical Writing Bootcamp

My Experience at the Hashnode Technical Writing Bootcamp

Being a business analyst means a lot of writing. So, I can say I've been into technical writing since 2018, but I didn't realize it until 2020. I saw it as boring. Some of my colleagues teased me, 'All you do is write documents', 'Why is your screen always white?' I let it get to me because I thought I was the least important on the chain of importance not realizing how valuable I actually am.

In 2020, I signed up on Hashnode and I got the chance to attend the first Technical Writing Bootcamp. It was a great experience and I met 4 amazing writers ( Catalin Pit, Omotola Shogunle, Tapas Adhikary & Victoria Lo ) who have helped shape & streamline my thoughts & expectations on technical writing.

Some of the points I picked up from the bootcamp include but are not limited to:

  • Knowing your audience and writing to fit their needs.
  • Discovering your writing style.
  • Writing consistently.
  • Branding your blog.
  • Promoting your blog. There's no point in writing and not sharing your articles.
  • Writing as a way of improving as a developer.
  • Focusing on writing quality articles.

Your blog is your persona, a reflection of who you are and what you know.

Thanks to the speakers and the entire Hashnode team for providing this opportunity. The journey has only begun.
